Adventure Tourism Festival Inaugurated In Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: The maiden adventure tourism festival went off to a colourful start at the picturesque Mechuka valley in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh with Chief Minister Nabam Tuki inaugurating it.

With the theme `Adventure at Mechuka`, the three-day tourism event would organise adventure sports like power propelled gliders, micro light gliders, aero-modelling, trap shooting, para-gliding, mountain biking, rappelling, river crossing, rafting and trekking, official sources said.

Inaugurating the festival, Tuki termed Menchuka as “An unparallelled and unmatched destination which is also known as the Land of Medicinal Ice-water.

The state`s unspoiled nature has earned the distinction of `Paradise Unexplored` and the most sought after destination of the world, he said.

“With such diversity, not only in its geography but also in its way of life, the state has a lot to offer to tourists visiting this part of the country,” the Chief Minister said.

“With 11 approved tourist circuits in place, we offer travel destination routes to our esteemed visitors as each circuit is complete within itself,” Tuki said, adding the state government has attached top priority to promotion of the tourism sector, the only sector which could generate massive self-employment, while generating revenue.

The Chief Minister pointed out the state government under its new tourism policy envisages PPP (public, private, partnership) model for investment in tourism sector, with the government to provide land on long term lease basis allowing the private sector to come up with design-build-own-operate models on a revenue sharing basis.
